Minimalism within Heritage
Nestled on the prestigious Altamount Road in Mumbai, this private residence complex comprises two restored heritage bungalows reimagined as a serene, contemporary living environment. The design intent was to celebrate the grandeur of the original structures while introducing a refined, minimalist spatial language.
The planning emphasized enhancing internal volumes—opening up spaces vertically and horizontally to allow light, air, and movement to flow with clarity and grace. Ornamentation was consciously restrained; instead, spatial quality, proportion, and material honesty defined the interiors. Clean lines, neutral palettes, and carefully curated textures complement the architectural character without overwhelming it.
This quiet minimalism allows the heritage essence to breathe, creating a sense of timeless elegance—where every detail serves purpose and every space evokes calm.
