When premium Italian furniture brand Visionnaire set its sights on Mumbai for its first showroom in India, the design challenge was clear: create a space that aligned with the brand’s global aesthetic while resonating with the nuances of its Indian setting.

Located on the first floor of a historic British-era structure within a repurposed mill compound, the space demanded a bold intervention to establish visibility and accessibility. This was achieved through the insertion of a new staircase block—a striking, contemporary volume composed of black metal and glass blocks. Gridded and geometric, this external element not only announces Visionnaire’s presence to the internal street but also serves as a modern counterpoint to the old industrial context, reflecting the brand’s sharp, refined identity.

Internally, the existing double-height volume was preserved and enhanced. A floating cylindrical staircase, designed as a sculptural black metal element, connects the ground floor to a mezzanine level and becomes a central visual anchor within the space. Its suspended quality adds drama and reflects the curated elegance of the furniture displayed.

The material palette was purposefully minimal: muted white ceiling surfaces provide visual relief and volume, while dark flooring and deep-toned walls form a neutral yet luxurious canvas that frames Visionnaire’s signature pieces. This play of contrast subtly draws attention to the craftsmanship and detailing of each furniture item.

The result is a spatial experience that is both immersive and iconic—one that respects its architectural context while asserting a distinct identity, perfectly in sync with Visionnaire’s ethos of avant-garde luxury.
